Tommy Ess is designed for training the basic manual skills needed in basic FESS and balloon dilatation (maxillary, frontal, Eustachian tube). It is suitable for learning endoscopic surgical instruments and techniques. In addition, the trainees learn the importance of the ergonomic working conditions and the stability of the arms.

SINUS SURGERY & BALLOON DILATATIONS

Rhinosinusitis affects up to 15% of the adult population. Surgery is warranted if non-surgical options do not give satisfactory results. First-step surgical options include balloon sinuplasty or functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). A basic FESS includes removal of the uncinate process and opening of the maxillary ostium.
The Eustachian tube (ET) equalizes pressure between the middle ear and the nasopharynx. Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) may lead to otitis and hearing loss. ET balloon dilatation Eustachian aims to widen the medial cartilaginous part of the ET, hence improving its function.
